The School has received accreditations from a range of professional bodies that recognise the quality of our teaching and research. Students can directly benefit from associate membership to professional institutes upon graduation.
The School's interdisciplinary research in biomedical/biological sciences and physics/chemistry and technology is amongst the top fifteen in UK universities, according to the results of the independent 2008 Research Assessment Exercise (RAE).

Membership with the Institute of Biomedical Science enables graduates to qualify for the status of Chartered Scientist in recognition of excellence.
In recognition of our teaching quality, our MChem courses are accredited by the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC), the largest organisation in Europe for advancing the chemical sciences and the professional body for people working in a range of chemistry related occupations. This allows you to apply for Chartered Chemistry designation (CChem) when you graduate. Our BSc courses are also recognised by the RSC allowing graduates to become Associate Members.
Nottingham Trent University is also the only UK institution to offer the Eurobachelor qualification to graduates studying BSc (Hons) Chemistry.
The Forensic Science Society has accredited all our undergraduate forensic science courses. The accreditation is in all three component standards:
- Crime Scene Investigation
- Laboratory Analysis
- Interpretation, Evaluation and Presentation of Evidence.
Nottingham Trent University is only the seventh university in the UK to have the quality and content of its forensic science degree programmes formally approved by the professional body for the subject.
The chemistry components for these degrees have also been recognised by the Royal Society of Chemistry.

Our teaching staff include British Association of Sport and Exercise Science (BASES) accredited physiologists and sports psychologists. BASES are the professional body leading excellence in sport and exercise sciences through evidence-based practice.
BSc (Hons) Sport Science and Management is the only UK course to have been accredited by the Institute of Leisure and Amenity Management (ILAM). The Institute has recently merged with the National Association of Sports Development to become the Institute for Sport, Parks and Leisure (ISPAL).
The England Hockey East Midlands National Performance Centre (NPC) based at Nottingham Trent University in recognition of the top quality coaching and services available while players pursue the development of their academic qualifications.
Our Environmental Chamber facility has been approved by the British Olympic Association and has been used as an acclimatisation training facility by the British Olympic team.
