Students investigated the virulence of Enterobacter sakazakii using strains isolated from an outbreak in a neonatal care unit. They revealed the organism's ability to attach to surfaces, persist in the intensive care environment and survive in formula feeds during preparation.
Jessica carried out an industrial placement in the Microbiology Section at Reckitt Benckiser in Hull in between her second and third year. She successfully graduated with a 2.1 degree in July 2008 and has returned to Reckitt Benckiser on a nine month placement.
