Students on the Applied Biomedical Science degree contribute to projects that can directly impact on patient management. Josephine Simwizye studied the immunochemistry of sections of breast tissues looking for E cadherin as a marker to differentiate the different types of breast cancer. This project was carried out at Chesterfield Royal Hospital.

Josephine graduated with a First Class Honours degree in July 2008 and was awarded the Vice Chancellor’s Award. Josephine also gave the Student Address at the award ceremony. She has been offered a place at Warwick Medical School to study medicine.
