Serious Games - making games for a serious purpose
The Serious Games module allows students to use skills developed on their course to work with industry to develop a solution for a problem. Students work in small groups to produce a games based solution which is demonstrated to tutors at the end of the module.
Wai San Hon, Laura Sturman and Olu Iwenofu worked on this project with The Birmingham Institute for the Deaf (BID) to develop an interactive tour for new deaf prisoners who are at particular risk when they enter prison due to lack of information, which is compounded by their deafness. The package went on to be tested by BID, working with deaf prisoners in HMP Winson Green.
