X-ray Diffraction

Philips X’Pert Pro X-ray Powder Diffractometer

  • Bragg-Brentano spinner stage (powder samples)
  • Anton Parr Furnace powder stage (RT - 1000 °C)
  • Bracket stage (small solid samples, e.g. wafers)
  • Phase identification by pattern matching powder against diffraction data base

Oxford Diffraction Single Crystal Diffractometer

  • Nitrogen cryostream (~100K-RT)

We can perform X-ray diffraction on single crystal or powder samples. X-ray diffraction can be used to identify crystal structures and crystallite sizes. It has been used to investigate the crystallinity of polymers, the structure of ceramics and new compounds and many other aspects of crystal structure.
