Computing and Informatics building
With over £8 million invested, the Computing and Informatics building is designed to very high specifications with a variety of electronic and communication laboratories including:
- games console labs
- networking and security labs
- a Human-Interactive technology lab
- a dedicated final year project lab.
Software resources include networked computers, optimisation, development packages and multimedia tools. Research facilitated by this sophisticated resource centre includes the development of 3D X-Ray scanners, education games, interactive systems, intelligent recognition and simulation modelling.
Specialist software includes:
- EnCase
- 3D StudioMax
- XNA Xbox development suite
- The Adobe Creative Suite (Flash, After Effects, Photoshop), and
- The Unreal and Half-life Games Engines.
The Computing and Informatics building is also home to the Computing Society and CITE – the Centre for Innovation and Technology Exploitation. CITE facilitates stronger links between industry and the research taking place within the School.
