Natural Sciences Research Facility
With over £3 million investment, the Natural Sciences Research Facility supports and enhances the School’s research in physics, biosciences, chemistry, imaging, materials and sport. The facility houses laboratories to support these specialist disciplines, together with office space dedicated to research workers and research students.
The facility is well-equipped with tools including:
- optics and imaging equipment:
- optical tweezers
- materials MRI
- optical coherence tomography.
- a Performance Analysis Laboratory which provides ergonomic and motion analysis equipment for sport science research
- research grade FTIR
- microbial genomics facilities incorporating microarray facility, Roche 480 lightcycler and genome sequence data analysis hi-performance computing suite.
Our research groups at the School of Science and Technology work in collaboration with a range of national and international centres of research excellence.
The Natural Sciences Research Facility is based in the CELS building on Clifton campus.
