Knowledge Transfer Partnerships
Funded access to Nottingham Trent University expertise
Many businesses face the challenge of having issues that need resolving, whilst not having either the resource or focus to address these issues.
At NTU, our academics could be the extra resource you've been looking for to add value to your business, through the government-funded Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP).
KTP projects are designed to provide solutions to a specific business need, allowing businesses or other qualifying organisations to work with a graduate, whilst being supported by University experts across a range of sectors.
What kinds of business can benefit from KTPs?
KTPs are open to businesses of all types and sizes from across the UK, as well as public and third sector organisations.
What types of projects can KTPs assist with?
KTPs can aid technologically, innovative projects which offer high impact and challenge for all parties. Projects typically involve the development of new products, processes and systems.
Facts for a Classic KTP:
- Projects can last from one-three years.
- Funding is 50% for large companies (at a cost to the business of c.£33k pa); 67% for SMEs (at a cost to the business of c.£22k pa).
Facts for a Shorter KTP:
- Projects can last from 26-51 weeks.
- Funding is 40% for large companies (at a minimum cost of £570 pw); 60% for SMEs (at a minimum cost of £380 pw).
For both types of KTP's, the Graduate is employed by the University but based full-time in the organisation.
How does it work?
The Grant Capture Team at NTU will help write the proposal and will deal with all programme administration. The University will work with you to recruit the right graduate, who will project manage and deliver the challenge, whilst being fully supported by a specialist Academic.
At the end of the KTP, new knowledge and skills will be embedded in your organisation to deliver future growth for your business.
Contact the Grant Capture Team on +44 (0)115 848 8169 or email to discuss how your company can benefit from Knowledge Transfer Partnerships.
