Politics and International Relations
The Division of Politics and International Relations is part of the School of Social Science and offers a range of distinctive and popular undergraduate and postgraduate courses that reflect the diverse research interests of staff members.
The division brings together an enthusiastic and research-active team of staff focusing on the areas of political theory, European politics, transnational media and international studies.
Staff have conducted cutting edge research funded by organisations such as the Economic and Social Research Council, Higher Education Funding Council and the Joseph Rowntree Foundation. They have also produced books and journal articles in a wide range of areas. Our research excellence frames our teaching, ensuring that we can offer an innovative and challenging learning experience for our students.
Members of the division have also been involved in a collaborative project, PREPOL, (developing a pre-entry and initial guidance package for the study of politics and international relations) which reviewed pre-entrance literature and guidance information currently available on studying politics and international relations at university.
Our undergraduate courses have established ERASMUS links and students will have the opportunity to spend the second term of their second year studying at various European universities.
Academics from across the division regularly provide their credible and informed expertise to real world occurrences and contribute to University wide blogs including the NTU’s Olympics Expert Arena and the voting reform blog which was active in the run up to the national referendum.
The division also contributes towards the Graduate School’s postgraduate courses, supervising MSc or PhD projects in various areas of politics and international relations.
