Professional courses and CPD
Tailored professional training
At the School of Social Sciences we make the most of our strengths both as experts in our subject and teachers of it. In addition to the courses offered, we run a range of acclaimed professional programmes, designed in partnership with local authorities, accreditation boards and practitioners, to give people the specific employment skills they need.
We can help you develop your own training programmes, working with you to establish objectives which will make a real difference to the skills of your people.
Specialist programmes developed include:
- The Professional courses within Risk Management are delivered by distance learning mechanisms and allow professionals to meet your continuing professional development obligations at a pace they control. The delivery mode and level also allow for academic credits to be accumulated leading to a full MSc.
- The Professional Diploma in Safety, Health and Environmental Management is a professionally recognised course now offered here at Nottingham Trent University and partner colleges throughout the UK.
- The BA (Hons) / Postgraduate Diploma in Childcare Practice is the recognised post-qualification award for social work practitioners, and is delivered throughout the East Midlands for Children's Services Departments.
- The Professional Diploma in Children's Services (Education Welfare) is a course based on the 'common core' training requirements for children's services workers, and is aimed at education welfare officers, learning mentors and Connexions advisors.
- The FdA in Youth Justice is designed for those interested in working with young people who offend or are at risk of doing so. It is specially supported by the Youth Justice Board for England and Wales.
- Our Professional Qualification Career Guidance (PG Dip CG) / Qualification in Careers Guidance (QCG) is the national leader in its field, and has had the positive endorsement of the Institute of Career Guidance for over 20 years.
- The MA Public Health has been designed in response to contemporary debates about the changing nature and shift in boundaries of multidisciplinary public health. Modules are available as part of CPD.
