Student voice

Students outside Newton building

Our students are important to us. They are the focus of our teaching and contribute to the growth and development of our courses. Many continue to study with us after graduation and undertake research in their chosen discipline. Others use the knowledge they have gained studying with us to start, or step up in, their careers.

Students on our professional courses bring a wealth of experience which can be shared with their peers during discussion and teaching sessions. Our research students bring cutting edge thinking to their work and are able to share this with staff and students.

As well as studying, our students undertake work placements, voluntary work, participate in sports, social and cultural activities. Many have won awards during their time with us.

I received a great deal of support from the Progression Partnership team who conducted training sessions throughout the scheme, and also my course tutor.
Laura Dixon, BA (Hons) Sociology
