How do I qualify for a Sport Scholarship?
All NTU Sport Scholars must be enrolled on either an undergraduate or postgraduate degree course at Nottingham Trent University. Applications are also open to current NTU students or anyone wishing to come and study at NTU from the following academic year.
What is the application process?
Anyone wishing to apply for an NTU Sport Scholarship must complete a Scholarship application form that is available to download from our How to Apply page. If you are a prospective NTU student and are thinking about applying, we would encourage you to contact us as soon as possible and complete the application form. We will then assess this within and get back to you to let you know of the next stage in the process. If you are a current NTU student we are happy to accept applications as soon as your BUCS season has finished and the same process will apply.
When do you need to apply?
Application to be an NTU Sport Scholar is all year round but we would encourage you to apply as soon as possible; if you are a prospective student for the next academic year we would encourage you to apply before or soon after you make your final UCAS choices. The final deadline for any applications to be received is the end of September however we will aim to make the majority of scholarship allocations before this date.
What happens after I have applied?
Regardless of the type of scholarship you have applied for we will aim to get back to you within two weeks of the application and let you know of the next stage in the process. If you have applied for an Individual Award and are successful in your initial application the next stage will involve an informal interview with our Elite Sport Development Officer. If you have applied for a Sport Specific Award the same process will apply followed by a trial process either prior to coming to NTU or during pre-season.
What is expected of NTU Scholars?

- fully commit to representing NTU in BUCS competitions, wherever possible
- meet with the NTU Elite Sport Development Officer at least twice a term
- keep us informed of your progress including any success, such as national/international selection
