Canoe
Nottingham Trent Canoe Club offers students the chance to be part of the UK's fastest growing water sport. Holding two training sessions a week, volunteer coaches provide members with expert training making use of some of the best facilities in the country.
The club is open to all paddlers whether they are brand-new to the sport or compete at a professional level. We aim to provide support and guidance to ensure that all members are able to reach their full potential. Our sessions involve a mixture of styles including:
- canoe polo
- whitewater kayaking and rafting
- canoe slalom
- rodeo kayaking.
We organise a wide range of trips to locations which have recently included:
- the Lake District
- North Wales
- Scotland and Newquay.
There are also trips farther afield destinations such as the French Alps, Holland, Bavaria and Norway.
Last year proved to be a very successful for the club, winning BUCS Slalom Competition walking away with gold medals in 5 out of six of the categories. On top of these we were also the runners-up in the two other BUCS competitions:
- Canoe Polo
- Wild Water Racing.
Our club members also represented Great Britain in the World Rafting Championships taking an impressive sixth Place. Next year we aim to continue our development, to encourage more students to reach their true potential as part of Nottingham Trent Canoe Club.
