International students
Nottingham Trent University and Student Accommodation Services welcome international students. We realise that choosing the correct accommodation is very important to you and that this process may be more challenging from overseas. We hope that the following information will assist this process. However, if you require any further help, advice or information please do not hesitate to contact us.
When do I book my accommodation?
You are guaranteed an offer of University-allocated accommodation provided:
- You have accepted a place on a full-time course at NTU.
- We are your first choice of university.
- You have booked your accommodation and made the necessary payments by 31 July 2013.
University-allocated accommodation includes University owned or managed residences, halls of residence run by our partner providers or private companies, and accredited shared housing.
Our booking system usually opens in April or May and we recommend you make yourself familiar with the different types of accommodation available in advance. Once you have received your personal NTU ID number which gives you access to the online booking system, you are ready to go online and book your accommodation. As demand for University accommodation is extremely high, you are strongly advised to book your accommodation as soon as possible.
How do I book my accommodation?
Once the online booking system has opened, you will need to:
- Go to our book accommodation section.
- Pay a non-refundable £200 booking fee at the time of booking any residence. This fee will become a deposit returnable at the end of the agreement, subject to an accommodation inspection.
- Read through and agree to the University Terms and Conditions
of the residency, and the Cancellation Policy at the bottom of the deposits, accommodation fees and contracts page. - Set up payment arrangements for the residence fees.
If you are unable to accept your place or pay your deposit by the 31 July, don't worry; there is plenty of other accommodation to be found in Nottingham and we can help you with this. Find out more in about private sector accommodation.
Shorter courses
If you are studying a Pre-sessional English for Academic Purposes (PEAP) or an ERASMUS course you may find that our accommodation contracts are not suitable. This is because all of our contracts have a specific start and end date and run for either 44, 48 or 51 weeks depending on the residence. If you are attending one of these courses, or any course that does not fit within our contract periods, please contact Student Accommodation Services for further advice before booking any accommodation.
Contracts for NTU residences run throughout the academic year and include the Christmas and Easter holidays. Unfortunately, we do not have any University accommodation for married couples or those with families. However, Student Accommodation Services are happy to help you search for private sector accommodation.
