UK working

Part-time work

Working part-time enables you to earn some extra cash and learn about British working life. It can also be a great addition to your CV. You can search for a job in your local Jobcentre Plus, newspapers, shops or notice boards, or you can use an agency or the Students' Union JobShop

While working can be a rewarding experience, do not let your studies suffer as a result. Aim for a balance between study, work and leisure. Importantly, if you have a student visa, one of the conditions is that you have enough money to pay for all of your fees and living costs without working.

For more information:

  • Access the UKCISA (UK Council for International Student Affairs) website for full details about whether you are eligible to work part-time while studying in the UK and what this involves.
  • Read the information on our Student Services website
  • See the JobShop page on the Students' Union website for suitable part-time vacancies while you are studying

Please do not hesitate to contact the International Student Support team if you have any questions.
