Libraries and Learning Resources
Each campus has a library supporting its staff and students. You are entitled to make use of all three libraries but, if you want to borrow books or find somewhere to study, the most useful library is likely to be the one situated on the campus where the majority of your lectures take place. You will need your NTU Smartcard to gain entrance and to borrow library materials. Libraries and Learning Resources also have a large collection of online electronic resources which are available to all members of the University via the Internet.
How can I use the University's Libraries and Learning Resources?
You can:
- Use our tutorials to help you develop key skills for locating and using information.
- Locate books, journals, articles, and other library resources via Library OneSearch. Library OneSearch will also let you renew your books online and search through databases individually.
There are extensive computing resources in all three libraries and we operate several IT resource rooms within the University. Detailed information about the services and resources is available on our website.
How do I borrow books and journals?
The vast majority of our stock is available for loan, have a look at the our website to see how many items you can borrow. Books are taken out and returned via easy to use self-service machines activated by your University Smartcard. Remember that fines are charged on items that are returned late, so please return them on or before the due date. You may be able to renew books if nobody else has requested them. This can be done in person, by telephone or via the online catalogue.
Postgraduate and part-time students are also entitled to join SCONUL Access, a cooperative scheme which enables students to borrow books and journals from higher education libraries nearer to home or work.
