Get involved
The Freshers' Fairs are always one of the most important highlights of Welcome Week each year. You will find yourself in a hall or marquee with hundreds of your peers all around you bustling through a bewildering array of sports clubs, cultural societies, voluntary organisations and local businesses.
Why is everyone else there?
Some new students are there for the freebies such as mouse mats, mugs, pens and flyers, but most want to join in and get involved.
Why get involved?
Getting involved enables you to do the following.
Make new friends
Clubs, societies and volunteering opportunities are all amazing experiences in which to meet people with similar interests.
Try something new
There are over 40 sports clubs, almost 80 societies and loads of opportunities for you to volunteer on interesting projects. Studying can be very intensive and getting involved can offer a great way of balancing your life.
Invest in your future
It's a cliché, but it also happens to be true. When a graduate recruiter is looking for reasons to employ you, being President of the Tango Society is always going to look better than 'I like drinking beer' on the application form.
