How can I get it?

How to apply

It is easy to apply for your funding online using your national Student Finance Service website:

You can also download an application form from the relevant website.

The same form will be used to check your eligibility for a bursary or scholarship. You (and your sponsor if applicable) should not have actively withdrawn consent to share financial information with the university for the purposes of assessing bursary or scholarship entitlement.

Student Finance England Update for 2012 / 13
Student Finance England has improved the application process for existing students to make it quicker and easier for you to re-apply for your student finance.

How to reapply will depend on your personal circumstances as follows:

  • Students applying for student finance which depends on their household income (i.e. depends on their parents' income or their partner's income) should reapply online for their student finance as usual.
  • Students who, last year, applied for student finance which did not depend on their household income, and who wish to be assessed for the same non-means tested student finance this year, will be sent a Student Finance Entitlement letter by the end of February 2012 which includes a declaration form to sign and return. If you were not non means-tested last year and will not need to be this year, your funding will be processed automatically and you should wait to hear from Student Finance England
  • Apply online, if your student finance was non means-tested last year, but you would like to submit an application based on your household income this year.

See Student Finance England’s comprehensive application guide for the full information.

You will not be able to enrol fully until the University has confirmation of how your tuition fees are being paid. You will therefore need to have had your tuition fee loan assessed and confirmed by your Student Finance Service before you can become fully enrolled.

Getting paid

When will I receive my money?
You'll get your student loan or grant after you register on your course at the start of term, provided you are fully enrolled. Your money will arrive in your bank account two to three days after your university sends the Student Loans Company confirmation of your attendance.

Log in to your student finance account and select View payments to see when your loans or grants are due to be paid.

How and when will my tuition fees be paid?
Tuition fee loans are paid direct to your university or college in three instalments:

  • October
  • February
  • May.

When will I be paid my bursary?
For those who started their course at NTU before 1 September 2012 see our NTU undergraduate bursaries page.

When will I know if I’m entitled to a scholarship?
For those who started their course at NTU after 1 September 2012 see our Scholarships page.
