Reverend Dr Richard Davey - Coordinating Chaplain

Richard was ordained a Church of England Priest in 1993. He has worked all over the country but settled in Nottinghamshire in 1999, working first at Southwell Minster and then coming to NTU in 2004. As Coordinating Chaplain, he is there for any student who would like to talk about their issues, which might include loneliness, general worries, wider spiritual questions, or bereavement. You can drop in at the Clifton Centre, or email Richard to make an appointment.

Richard also promotes and explores ways to promote the relevance of faith and spirituality in the University. Because this is a multi-faith chaplaincy, he is there to support students of all faiths and none. Richard is also an Associate Priest in All Saints Church, Raleigh Street, St Peter's and St Mary's, where he takes Services and helps out where needed.

Richard has a PhD from the University of Nottingham looking at faith and contemporary art, and as a result he is also a visiting fellow in the School of Art & Design, where he does a number of projects looking at spirituality and art.

Richard is married and has a daughter at primary school. Along with spending time with his family and the many animals that share their lives, he loves art, music, walking in the countryside and cycling.

You can telephone Richard on +44 (0)115 848 3279 or send an email.

Reverend Kara Cooper - Chaplain to International Students

Kara is the chaplain in the team with particular responsibility to international students. This includes faith and spirituality contact, one to one informal emotional support, and social activities for international students. Since Kara grew up in the United States and moved to this country over ten years ago, she understands intimately how hard it can be for internationals to adjust to living in a new culture, and she knows how helpful it can be to encounter a friendly face in the midst of the adjustment struggles. Kara is an ordained minister and enjoys working in the vibrant and diverse context that is NTU. So if you're feeling homesick, far from home, culture shock, or just wondering how you can get more out of your NTU experience, she's the person to talk to.

Kara runs a weekly lunch for international and home students in the Clifton Wellbeing centre, as well as a number of other social opportunities throughout the year. If you'd like to get in touch with Kara, or to find out more about social events for international students, please feel free to telephone her on +44 (0)7706 736127 or send her an email.
