Feeling worried or unhappy?

Feeling worried or unhappy?

Sometimes life feels difficult and you may not be sure what to do. You may be:

  • not enjoying life at NTU
  • feeling low or anxious
  • getting depressed
  • not sleeping
  • not eating properly
  • having mood swings.

If so it would be helpful to see your GP or check out our staying healthy pages for useful advice and information.

You may also find it helpful to talk to some friends or family members to get their support.

If you are not sure who would be able to help, you might also want to talk to someone in Student Support Services.

Our services are non-judgmental and confidential. Student appointments are available at scheduled times throughout the week, all year round. These are for students with a range of issues or general concerns about their wellbeing and are to help you work out what would be best for you.

The appointments are bookable from the Student Centres. Alternatively, you can email the Student Support mailbox with your contact details and we will get back to you as soon as we can.

If you feel really low or ill please see your GP or call NHS Direct.

Your university work
If how you are feeling is affecting your studies, you can arrange to see your personal or year tutor for advice and support. Your course administrator would be able to put you in touch with the relevant members of staff to contact and advise you on any steps you may need to take to make any academic arrangements. The administrator’s details will be in the course handbook on Nottingham Trent University Online Workspace (NOW). Specific study support is also available from specialist advisers and student mentors.

What if things get worse?
Our Student Support Services Wellbeing Manager is available by phone on +44 (0)115 848 6880, to discuss more serious worries or if you are concerned that your health or general wellbeing is deteriorating.

If you are very worried about your immediate wellbeing or safety, then we would urge you to get help quickly. Our have details of the services that you can use.
