We need newer, faster computers. We are updating PCs, with around 1500 PCs already replaced with new ones over summer 2012. The vast majority of student computers are now less than two years old. We need faster and more reliable Wi-Fi throughout the university so we can use our own phones / tablets / laptops etc. We have implemented leading edge Wi-Fi and Internet access across the University and in halls of residence. We are committed to closing the few remaining Wi-Fi gaps across the University. We need better access to specialist software. More specialist software including Adobe Master Collection, Microsoft Office Visio and Project is now available in more places across the University with more software to come. It would be much easier to be able to view our timetables on our phones. We have launched a brand new mobile timetable. To find out how to sync your NTU timetable with your mobile device visit the IT service desk webpages. Free print credit runs out too quickly, can we have more? We trebled the amount of free print credit you get at the start of the academic year. The IT resources are good but we want them to be better. We are listening and continue to work closely with the Students’ Union and student focus groups to improve the IT resources that matter to you. Other improvements
- In October we opened a science laboratory on Clifton campus, utilising the very latest tablet, Wi-Fi, and audio visual technology.
- You can now ask for IT support online via Twitter, Facebook, or the Service desk.
If you have any comments or suggestions for improvements we could make, email the student comms team.
