Social media plays an essential role in marketing. An ideal way to acquire and nurture leads, it also allows you to engage with your customers, and gain referrals and recommendations.

Small businesses need to take advantage of this valuable promotional tool - but how do you know where to start and what works?

This hands-on workshop with journalist Julie Nightingale will put you on the right track. The session is designed to be practical and interactive. It will help to demystify social media and give you the skills you need to start using social media to promote your business. Topics will include:

  • writing
  • building a community
  • when and how to use
  • identifying potential pitfalls.

Julie is a freelance journalist who writes for the Guardian and education publications and specialises in ICT and social media. She is also course leader on the Postgraduate Magazine Journalism course at NTU.

The workshop will end at 12 pm, when a light lunch will be served, giving you a further networking opportunity.
