Would you like to develop yourself by:

  • learning a new language
  • discovering why degrees with a global perspective can enhance your employability
  • exploring and discussing the exciting opportunities for studying and working abroad as part of your degree
  • working with inspiring, multi-lingual academics to broaden your horizons?

We would like to invite post-16 students from across the East Midlands to become a Global Star and discover how they can stand centre stage in the global job market.

We live in a globalised economy and the need to understand what connects our world, and what divides it, has never been greater. With international relations and global citizenship as its central theme, the Global Stars Conference will provide a unique and invaluable insight into how global issues are integral to study, travel, work and employability today.

With employers pushing for graduates to have global employability skills, and with over 52% of firms looking to recruit new staff with language skills* – it's never too late to start a new language.

As a global conference delegate you will:

  • participate in world languages tasters and find out how these give you the employability edge
  • engage in a series of interactive lectures and debates on topics of current global interest that affect the way we live our lives
  • hear about opportunities available to study and work abroad
  • discover the vast varied career options available with a degree in humanities.

If you have an interest in languages, global affairs, politics, international relations, history, culture or you just want to find out more about the world we live in - book your free place on the Global Stars Conference at Nottingham Trent University.

If you have any queries or would like further information, please email Fran Bonner.

We accept both individual and group bookings.

*Teachers making group bookings, please be aware of the following:

We are required to target learners who are from disadvantaged backgrounds and statistically less likely to progress on to further and higher education. We are required to ensure that at least 66% of the learners who engage in our activities meet one or more of these criteria. These include learners who:

  • reside in deprived neighbourhoods, where progression rates to higher education are low
  • are from low socioeconomic backgrounds
  • are currently in receipt of a post-16 bursary
  • are in receipt of free school meals
  • are currently looked-after / in care or have recently left care
  • have a disability
  • post-16 students on vocational qualifications in state funded institutions (who are doing no more than one standard A-level)
  • mature students (those on an Access course and / or those over 21-years-old).

We can help you identify a cohort if you could provide us with the postcodes of learners within your group and an explanation of how they meet the above criteria. Please contact us for more information.
