The four selected students taking part in the snow sculpting competitions, currently studying fine art, product design, and decorative arts at NTU, will travel to China later this month to participate in the competitions. This will be the sixth time that NTU has competed.
The team will arrive in Harbin, where the temperature can drop down to as low as -30°C during the winter months, on 22 December and will receive training at Harbin Engineering University in preparation for the competition and work on the sculpture design.
They will be led by Daizhong Su, Professor of Product Design within the School of Architecture, Design and the Built Environment at NTU. He commented: "This will be a great opportunity for our students to improve their capacities to work and compete with international competitors. They will not only apply their knowledge gained from course studies into practice and learn new skills of snow sculpture, but also receive valuable experience in how to become a citizen within a global environment."
