Workshop and Legal Advice: Art and Image – photography, fine art, decorative arts and architecture
Led by Nottingham Trent University, this project is designed for businesses and students in the creative industries. The aim is to equip both with a better understanding of how to more effectively protect, manage and exploit ideas and intellectual property.

This free workshop focuses on the themes of art and image, including photography, fine art, decorative arts and architecture. It aims to provide a better understanding of how to effectively identify, protect, manage and exploit ideas and intellectual property (IP).

Benefit from the onsite Pro Bono Law Clinic
Businesses and graduates with specific queries about their intellectual property will be offered pre-screening legal sessions on the day. This will be followed by the opportunity to benefit from free legal advice clinics, delivered by students of Nottingham Law School, guided by experienced IP lawyers and NTU staff, at a later date.
This project is part funded by the UK Intellectual Property Office and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
Featuring talks from;
After completing her degree in Graphic Design at Nottingham Trent, Emma went on to create her first business designing stencils. After being successful on the craft show circuit and supplying John Lewis for many years, in 1999 she went back to her first love: illustration, creating the business she has today, Emma Ball Ltd. The company now has eight staff, three freelance illustrators and supplies shops worldwide with greetings cards and gifts.
David BairdA professional commercial photographer based in Nottinghamshire, David Baird graduated from Nottingham Trent University after studying BA (Hons) Photography. He regularly works for a number of organisations and businesses ranging from the British Army to Paul Smith. In 2011 he won an NME award for his music photography and has photographed hundreds of bands from All Time Low to Tinie Tempah. In 2013 he joined Paralympic gold medalist Richard Whitehead on his 40 marathons in 40 days challenge from John o'Groats to Lands End and has recently published a book about the journey.
