Event details

Soft Painting is a collaborative exhibition between internationally recognised painter Simon Callery, and a collective of Nottingham Trent University BA (Hons) Fine Art students.

The exhibition will take the form of an 'open-studio' where the entire process of making large scale paintings can take place openly and will be an integral part of the exhibition.

Viewers are invited to observe as Callery soaks lengths of canvas; a process where the industrial starch is removed from the cotton – and then  saturated with highly coloured distempers. Softened canvasses will be hung off wooden frames to dry before being sewn into the formal configurations of soft paintings.

Preview Event: Wednesday 29 April, 2015, 5 pm - 8 pm, if you would like to attend please email to confirm your attendance.

This exhibition is hosted by Bonington Gallery. To find out more, visit the Bonington Gallery website.
