Future Factory and the Creative Quarter would like to invite you to this unique, one-day workshop where you will learn how to design incorporating the ethos of the circular economy model and get hands on with the Fab Lab's making processes.

The day will include:

  • teardown and design up workshop
  • introduction to the RSA and the circular economy
  • prototyping using 3D printing / laser cutter.

Transport will be provided to and from the venue, plus complimentary lunch and refreshments.

Future Factory is part funded by the ERDF and Nottingham Trent University. It supports small to medium sized businesses in the East Midlands to adopt more environmentally friendly ways of doing business.

Programme

Introduction to the circular economy and RSA The Great Recovery
We will introduce some of the concepts, trends and practices that are informing circular economy thinking, focusing in particular on the importance of design and services.

Teardown and Design upThe Great Recovery's trademark workshop. This hands-on activity that will engage you with the challenges and opportunities of the circular economy in practice, and how it can be applicable to your business. You will be guided through the deconstruction process, mapping out material sources and supply chains. Using four design models, and taking into account user behaviours, we will then look at the options for redesigning products, services and business models that fit within a circular economy.

Introduction to Fab Lab and the machine room
The Fab Lab team will introduce the space and its potential for prototyping products for a circular economy. This will include the Trotec laser cutter and Ultimaker 2 3D printer. You will be taken through the making process, enabling you to take away something you have made.

The workshop will run from 10.30 am – 4 pm. We will leave Nottingham at 7.30 am and arrive back in Nottingham at approximately 7 pm.

To secure your fully funded place please email us with a link to your business website, and submit a very brief proposal on what you would like to get from this workshop.

Spaces are limited and priority will be given to businesses that have not yet completed their full amount of support from Future Factory.
