As part of the School of Science and Technology STEM Education Research Seminar Series, Kamilah Jooganah, NTU, presents: Student transition to university: A focus on the challenges encountered by mathematics undergraduate students.

Abstract:

How tensions between the school and university activity systems, as well as tensions that shape the learning-teaching environment at university, can help explain some of the challenges first-year students encounter. Through drawing on ethnographic data collected at one research-intensive university, the talk focuses on some of the challenges mathematics undergraduate students encounter in the transition from school to university

All welcome.
