Funding for innovative medical projects can be difficult to obtain. Finding a partner organisation can make funding easier to secure. However, managing the business relationship can be tricky. How do intellectual property law issues fit into these collaborative projects?
Opportunities exist to work in collaboration with local universities and industry partners to make these ideas a reality and this event will focus upon how small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) can work with a variety of partners to develop and commercialise these projects.
The workshop will cover practical examples of successful projects and common pitfalls and will also focus on important legal issues that you should consider. There will also be an opportunity to talk to legal advisers from the NLS Legal Advice Centre.
The workshop is a collaborative event between D2N2, Potter Clarkson, patent and trade mark attorneys, Nottingham Law School, NTU and Nottingham Law School Legal Advice Centre.
The event will also herald the start of the Legal Advice Centre's participation in the project Creating Tomorrow's Commercial Lawyers, a partnership between the Legal Advice Centre, Queen Mary University Law School's Legal project and the University of Ulster. Funded by the Legal Education Foundation, the project aims to give law students practical experience of giving commercial advice, while providing much needed advice and guidance to start-ups and SMEs.
The event is free of charge and lunch will be provided.
The event is aimed at businesses in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire.
