ACE Week - Flight from Death: The Quest for Immortality

This event is part of the School of Social Sciences' ACE week and open to School of Social Sciences undergraduate students only.

This event will involve a viewing of Flight from Death, the multi-award winning documentary outlining Terror Management Theory’s social psychological theory of human behaviour. Analysing the existential anxiety caused by human awareness of mortality, the film includes reference to death and human atrocities while seeking to provide answers that explain both these events and peaceful cultural coexistence.

This event will involve a viewing of Flight from Death, the multi-award winning documentary outlining Terror Management Theory’s social psychological theory of human behaviour. Analysing the existential anxiety caused by human awareness of mortality, the film includes reference to death and human atrocities while seeking to provide answers that explain both these events and peaceful cultural coexistence.

Discussion following the film will critically analyse the theory and its ability to explain contemporary human behaviours, such as war and terrorism.

What you need to check before attending the event

  • Are you studying on BA (Hons) Social Work? You will still have scheduled teaching, seminars or you will be on placement. You are very welcome to attend our ACE Week events that do not clash with your scheduled teaching.
