International Crisis Simulation: Foreign Policy Decision-Making

This event is for students who want to learn about foreign policy decision-making.

  • This event consists of a role-play event concerning a potential crisis or regional / international event. This would not be a formal simulation in which specific actors are represented and a resolution sought.
  • Students will instead be separated into three or four different rooms where they play the role of a group of experts forming an advisory board to a specific actor.
  • You will need to consider your assigned actors interests and the responses and reactions their suggested decisions would garner. A member of staff will be allocated to each room acting as a runner between them – passing on written updates to the other teams who may then need to re-evaluate their proposed plan of action.
  • This is open to students at all levels and is a fun and alternative way of helping you to develop your subject knowledge of the different forces and factors involved in decision making and actor relations.

What you need to check before attending the event

  • Are you studying on BA (Hons) Social Work? You will still have scheduled teaching, seminars or will be on placement. You are very welcome to attend our ACE Week events that do not clash with your scheduled teaching.
