Event details

In her Readership seminar, Dr Caroline Sunderland explains how her heat acclimation protocol and her unique neck cooling collar have enhanced both preparation and performance at the highest levels of sport.

Competing in a hot climate creates significant and specific challenges for both individual and team performance. Such events as the Rio Olympic Games in 2016 and the Qatar World Cup in 2022 require athletes and teams to have practical and efficient ways of managing the detrimental effects of competing in the heat.

In her talk, Dr Sunderland will begin by outlining these effects before explaining how her heat acclimation protocol and neck cooling collar enhance performance in these challenging environments. Throughout, she will make reference to the work she has done with Great Britain Hockey, England Hockey and UK Sport.
