The seminar will examine a sample of published case studies and templates from the REF 2014 Business and Management Studies Unit of Assessment.

With a focus on "impact" and "environment" measures it will explore:

  • the impact and environment strengths common to effective case studies and templates
  • the range of impact measures used
  • best practice in case study and template style and articulation
  • potential implications for strategic development in preparation the next REF.

About the author

Rosemary Stamp advises higher education, public and private sector organisations throughout Europe on strategic planning; effective leadership; brand competitiveness and positioning; stakeholder engagement; policy response; and strategic communications. Her wide-ranging career has spanned the public and private sectors, encompassing leadership within higher education services through to pioneering roles in global commercial communications agencies and strategic consultancy services.

Current assignments range from leadership development to competitive analysis and strategic planning initiatives for executive teams facing critical market or cultural change. She has assisted institutions in the development of international branch campuses and an assessment of the implications for corporate strategy, leadership and culture. She is a specialist adviser to the executive boards of several higher education institutions and also advises international companies working within the global higher education sector, as partners, service providers or innovators.

Rosemary is a Visiting Professor at the Nottingham Business School and served as a sub panel Impact Assessor for the 2014 Research Excellence Framework (REF) for UK higher education. Rosemary’s pro bono board memberships include the advisory boards of the Nottingham Business School, UK and the executive board of the Equality Challenge Unit, which works to further and support equality and diversity for staff and students in UK higher education.

Rosemary contributes to the UCL Institute of Education's MBA in Higher Education Management and the University of Warwick's International Programme in HE Management. She is a Leadership Foundation Key Associate and Programme Director of the Top Management Programme for future university leaders and the Power and Politics module of the Aurora women’s leadership programme.

Before founding Stamp Consulting in 2006, Rosemary was Director of the Strategic Consulting Group within the communications agency Euro RSCG. She also held the roles of Group Brand Director and National Director for Education Marketing. Before joining Euro in 1998, Rosemary was Director of student marketing, research and recruitment for the University of Warwick, UK.
