Event details

Heritage science is the application of science including physics to archaeology, art history and conservation to study the history of civilisation. Astrophysics is the study of the history of the Universe using physics. Both astrophysics and heritage science rely on advanced instrumentation in imaging and spectroscopy and an understanding of the interaction between light and matter.

Recent developments in imaging science are allowing increasing amount of information to be obtained from non-invasive investigations in a wide range of applications from medicine to industry. Professor Liang will take you on a personal journey through her career to explore how developments in imaging and spectroscopic instrumentation are used to further our understanding in a number of subjects from observational cosmology to the history of cultural exchange and globalisation.
