Listening to the voices of guests in the Soup Kitchen
Himmah, a local Nottingham charity working on poverty, education and race, wants your help during ACE Week to be part of a 'listening' campaign.
Students will receive training on the Monday and then travel with Himmah organisers to two community cafes to listen to the concerns of the guests there. This will involve holding in-depth, one-to-one conversations to understand the everyday concerns of people using Soup Kitchens in Nottingham, a group whose concerns are rarely heard.
N.B. You'll be required to attend the two-and-a-half-hour training session on Monday and at least one session on Tuesday and / or Wednesday, approximately two hours per evening, from around 5.30 pm – 7.30 pm including travel time from NTU.
What you need to check before attending the event:
Are you studying on BA (Hons) Social Work or postgraduate course? You'll still have scheduled teaching, seminars or will be on placement. You are very welcome to attend our ACE Week events that do not clash with your scheduled teaching.
