The Centre for Mediation and Dispute Resolution proposes to run the Nottingham Law School Negotiation Competition during 

the competition will take place in the Spring term. 

Applications are now open to Nottingham Law School students from:
• Second and third Year LLB courses
• GDL
• LPC
• BPTC

Event details

Student teams (of two members) are divided into opposing parties and are invited to solve specially prepared problems through negotiation. 

Successful teams will display an effective combination of representation and problem-solving skills.

16 students will be selected to take part in the “live” rounds of the competition which will take place over 3 weeks in January

Interested? Want to take part?

Applications are now open to Nottingham Law School students from:

  • Second and third Year LLB courses
  • GDL
  • LPC
  • BPTC

You must enter as a team of two. You will need to work together to provide a written negotiation plan to the information detailed in the your course learning room on NOW.   

The negotiation plan must be no longer than 2 sides of A4 and should set out the strengths and weaknesses of both sides to the dispute, strategies for dealing with resolving the dispute and the needs and interests of the parties.

Your written document must be emailed to Joy Davies  by 4pm on Monday 9 January 2017.

Winners of the competition 

Winners of the competition will enter the London regional heat of the:

National Student Negotiation Competition for England & Wales 2017 on Saturday 18 February 2017 at the International Dispute Resolution Centre, 70 Fleet Street, London.

Programme

Your written document must be emailed to Joy Davies  by 4pm on Monday 9 January 2017.

There will be a 2 hour training session on Wednesday 11 January 2017. The negotiation heats will take place during:

  • Week commencing 16 January 2017 
  • Week commencing 23 January 2017 (semi-final)
  • Week commencing 30 January 2017 (final).
