Nottingham Trent University's The Hive, invite local small and medium organisations from the D2N2 area (Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire) to get involved with the new Enabling Innovation programme.


Crowdfunding for Innovation
What is crowdfunding? How can you use it to get your innovation off the ground?

Whether you're just looking to find out more about this alternative model of finance or you're ready to plan a crowdfunded campaign, this event will help you to understand the three main models of crowdfunding: equity, debt and donations/rewards, introduce you to available online platforms and identify next steps.

This day long event will feature:

Anne Strachan – Understanding Crowdfunding
Room: The Studio
Anne will help you understand the crowdfunding options in more detail. She will outline how crowdfunding fits with other funding opportunities: innovation awards, accelerators, angel investment. In this workshop, Anne will cover:
* The three models of crowdfunding: equity, debt and donations/rewards and sub categories in each of these areas
* The USPs of different platforms
* The motivation of investors, lenders, backers
* What is needed before approaching a platform
* Who can help, if needed
CrowdfundUK is Anne Strachan FRSA, a trainer and fundraiser for over 20 years. Anne runs innovative training and support for the third sector, creative and business on alternative finance, social investment and crowdfunding. She is an Associate Partner with BAFI (Business Angels Finance International LLP) helping start-ups and SMEs raise structured debt or equity finance through crowdfunding. CrowdfundingUK.org

An introduction to Innovation Assistance from The Design & Processes hub
Room: The Library
Innovation Advisors Dana Church and Paul Found will give a short 10-minute presentation on the types of innovation assistance offered by the Design and Processes hub.
The hub may help you with 2D and 3D design work, knowledge and application of a variety of technologies such as 3D Modelling, Computational Design and Analysis, 3D Visualisations and Animations, 3D Scanning and 3D Printing.
Their expertise also covers Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality technologies and their applications. The in-house team can also advise on Packaging, Product Development, Prototyping, Fabrication, and Manufacturing. They can also undertake desk research in related areas.
Following their 10-minute presentation, Dana and Paul are offering individual 1-to-1 surgery sessions , bookable in advance on a first come first served basis, to learn about your business and discuss the bespoke innovation assistance they can offer.

Henrietta Norton Workshop - Demystifying crowdfunding and Planning your Kickstarter campaign– 2 hours duration
Room: The Workshop
Do you have a project you want to get off the ground? Do you have a brilliant idea you want to see realised? Do you want to reach a wider and more engaged network of supporters?

This workshop will help participants to identify how to target and engage new audiences, capitalise on networks and social media and develop a personalised strategy and timeline for micro financing. Henrietta will guide you through the steps to plan a campaign and understand how the Crowdfunding model can help you to build a sustainable business strategy.

Henrietta Norton co-founded www.wedidthis.org.uk one of the first Crowdfunding sites in the UK back in January 2011. She is a creative producer and a documentary filmmaker and artist who applies her methods and crowdfunding model to her own projects and work. She works as a consultant to the creative industries across the UK and Internationally. www.hen-norton.com

This event is free to attend, but attendees must register in advance. In order to attend this event you must be eligible for support from the Enabling Innovation Programme, which supports SMEs in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire.

Enabling Innovation is a three-year collaboration between Nottingham Trent University, the University of Nottingham, and the University of Derby to support SMEs in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire to innovate. It is part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
