Considering a career in journalism?

The award-winning Centre for Broadcasting & Journalism (CBJ) is the perfect place to start your journalism career.

This informal event is designed to provide you with an overview of the professional training and postgraduate qualifications required by the industry.

You'll be able to:

  • collect course literature and fees and funding information;
  • speak to our experienced team about our range of exciting postgraduate courses;
  • talk to NTU graduates who have gone onto careers in journalism; and
  • take part in a practical taster session.

Journalism Postgraduate Courses

Building on your undergraduate degree, we offer a number of postgraduate courses that will equip you with the skills and qualifications needed to pursue a career in specialist journalism.

  • MA / PGDip Broadcast Journalism - This course prepares you to work in radio and television newsrooms and factual programming.
  • MA / PGDip Magazine Journalism - The Magazine Journalism course offers specialist training to equip you with the well-rounded skills required to work in a magazine editorial team.
  • MA / PGDip Digital and Newspaper Journalism - Training on this course includes interviewing, story construction, specialised reporting such as court, council and sport plus writing columns, reviews and features for both print and online.
  • MA / PGDip Documentary Journalism - This course will prepare you to research and produce long-form journalism for online, radio and television. It includes all the steps of the process from research and production across multi-platforms, to making a pitch, the commissioning process, costing and budgets.

  • 4.45 pm – Hand-on taster: Mobile Journalism
  • 5.15 pm – Student and Staff Q&A
