We invite local small and medium organisations from the D2N2 area (Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire) to get involved with the new Enabling Innovation programme.

Nottingham Trent Universities Food and Drink Innovation hub, as part of Enabling Innovation, invite you to a series of masterclasses set at the Brackenhurst campus.

Join us at the end of march for our first two day masterclass:

Brand Marketing & Category Planning

Day 1 – Brand Marketing – 31st March

- Understand your customer - using different types of insights
- Brand design - how to make product stand out on shelf
- How to brief a design agency
- How to write a brand plan
- How to promote your brand on a shoestring

Day 2 – Category Planning – 1st April

- Reasons for expanding your category, not just your brand
- Customer insights
- Understanding the category growth levers and identifying which ones are relevant to your business
- Building the innovation plan - building on the innovation workshop and how you weave that into category presentations
- Successful merchandising - what you can do to grow sales by targeting stores and distribution
- Putting together the category plan and making an effective presentation

Following this Masterclass, the Food and Drink Innovation team will be hold 2 more on:

30th June – 1st July: Negotiation and Selling Skills & Exporting
29th September - 30th September: Innovation & Outsourcing

This event is free to attend, but attendees must register in advance. In order to attend this event you must be eligible for support from the Enabling Innovation Programme, which supports SMEs in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire.


Enabling Innovation is a three-year collaboration between Nottingham Trent University, the University of Nottingham, and the University of Derby to support SMEs in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire to innovate. It is part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
