As part of the School of Art & Design’s Creative Innovation Across Disciplines Seminar Series, Vanessa Podmore, former Vice President of Supply Chain Sustainability at Burberry, presents:

‘Global fashion insights: sustainability, employability, and the supply chain’.

Vanessa Podmore will be talking about her 30 year career in the fashion industry, describing the businesses, countries and cultures she has worked in and giving some insights into the differences between high street and luxury brands. Additionally, she will highlight the huge variety of different career opportunities there are in the industry, and focus on her passionate belief in taking a sustainable approach to our work in the industry with particular emphasis on the supply chain.

Biography

Vanessa Podmore is an executive with deep insight and operational expertise in many areas of the international fashion supply chain, in both luxury and high street businesses. Previously Vice President of Supply Chain Sustainability at Burberry, Vice President of Supply Chain at Jimmy Choo, Speedo, VP Kangaroos and Pentland Brands, and in management roles at Coach and Clarks, her experience encompasses factory management, sourcing team leadership including responsibility for delivery of end to end margin, sustainability, strategic thinking, and advisory roles on industry wide boards.

With extensive experience of living and working in Asia over a period of 11 years, complemented by a solid understanding of the European supply chain including the UK, Vanessa is highly tuned to cross-cultural sensitivities and respected across the sector in many countries for her ability to engage and operate successfully in challenging environments.
