A getting paid workshop for SMEs
Nottingham Trent University’s Legal Advice Centre invites local small and medium organisations from Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire to get involved this event exploring the benefits of good terms of business and the small claims court procedure. This event is free to attend and includes breakfast.
Topics will be:
- The importance of well drafted terms and conditions of trading in protecting your business; and
- An overview of how to pursue a case through the small claims court, including the steps to take before issuing a claim.
More about the Legal Advice CentreNottingham Law School Legal Advice Centre Limited is based at Nottingham Trent University’s City Campus. The Centre has won a number of awards for its commitment to providing access to justice, including the LawWorks Award for best Contribution by a Law School and the Access to Justice Foundation Award 2016. The Centre holds a licence to deliver legal services from the Solicitors Regulation Authority and delivers advice and other legal services for businesses, including social enterprises and charities, on a variety of commercial law issues. Areas of expertise range from intellectual property, employment and contractual terms and conditions to commercial dispute resolution and some commercial property law.
The Centre’s services are provided by Nottingham Law School staff and students, with all work supervised by the Centre’s qualified lawyers. We also provide expert workshops on a variety of legal topics to those looking to set up and develop their businesses and explore other means of delivering effective legal services to SMEs. Breakfast will be served at 8 am followed by a talk by Centre Solicitor Mike Jarrett. Members of staff will then be on hand for a short consultation or to help you make a request for advice through the Centre from 9.30 am onwards. Appointments for these consultations can be booked when you register on the day.
This event is part supported by Enabling Innovation, which is a three-year collaboration between Nottingham Trent University, the University of Nottingham and the University of Derby to support SMEs in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire to innovate. It is part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
