Understanding and Developing Student Engagement

Abstract

Building on his experience of over thirty years working in higher education at a variety of institutions Colin has established a reputation as a leading UK researcher in student engagement. He established RAISE (Researching, Advancing and Inspiring Student Engagement) in 2010, a body which attracts growing numbers of participants to its conferences and network from across the spectrum of UK institutions and from overseas. Colin has carried out a series of major studies and published extensively on student engagement. He is a leading advocate of the students as partners model and has been seeking to deploy this in his practice at Newcastle.
