Business and Enterprise Law Service: Data Protection

An overview of data protection issues for managers and owners of SMEs

Nottingham Trent University’s Legal Advice Centre invites local small and medium organisations from Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire to get involved this event exploring data protection. This event is free to attend and includes breakfast.

This seminar will cover:The Data Protection Act controls how organisations use personal information belonging to others. If you or your business collects personal information belonging to customers, clients or others to whom you provide services, then you need to follow strict rules called ‘data protection principles’. This overview is intended to give you an insight into those principles and how to protect your business from fines of up to £500,000 that can be imposed for a serious breach of the principles.

This event is part supported by Enabling Innovation, which is a three-year collaboration between Nottingham Trent University, the University of Nottingham and the University of Derby to support SMEs in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire to innovate.  It is part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund (“ERDF”).
