You will hear from three very different designers, each talking about their background and their interesting and exciting stories about how they got to where they are today.
Speaker 1: Ross Kemp, Asap Watercrafts
Ross is the designer and inventor of Asap electric water crafts – electric powered water craft for rescue and play, water crafts are engineered to power through surf, across lakes and rivers for rescuers to reach people in trouble faster.
Ross has come a long way since making the first prototype in a tent in his garden. Now at production level, development of the Asap Rescue has taken Ross on adventures around the world.
From testing with the Bondi Rescue Lifeguards in Australia with Richard Branson’s help, to interviews with the BBC and CNN, whilst treading water in a cold lake. Ross and the product have made national and international news, on his journey to bringing the product into production.
Ross has tested prototypes with over a hundred lifeguards and lifesavers along the East Coast of Australia with Virgin’s sponsorship, all incredible experiences, which formed the production of products today.
After six figure angel investment Ross is now starting UK production, in Weston Super Mare!
Ross has won the Lloyds Bank Best UK Start Up award 2013, a Grand Idea award from Shell, an Entrepreneurship award from Santander and a Think Big award from Loughborough University.
Speaker 2 : Grant Baker, Sonodesign
Such successes reflect not only the quality of the Sonodesign product range, but also their passionate commitment to using UK manufacturers and making their mark as a British brand.
Thanks in part to Sonodesign's well-received presence at design shows in cities such as New York and Paris, the products have been propelled into the international marketplace. The brand have distributors in France, Brazil, Japan, and Scandinavia, delivering commission based projects for several international clients.
Speaker 3 : Arnold Du Troit, CEO at Drive Daddy and Rolley Golf
A qualified design engineer, and the founder of British companies Drive Daddy and RolleyGolf. Arnold has been building his own inventions since he could hold a hammer and duct tape.
Arnold has been guest speaker for Sir Richard Branson, on Necker island and has spoken for two years running at Entrepreneur Live all across the country. In Dec 2016 the Financial Times asked Arnold to MC the lifetime achievement awards to CEO Ben Hughes, who was also his Chairman for 3 years since 2013. Arnold also acts as mentor and junior investor in several start-ups from Virgin Media’s Pioneers.
Having spent the last 10 years developing smarter technologies in personal transport for future landscapes, Arnold has most recently invented the world’s first hop-on golf trolley ‘RolleyOne’ – one of the most game-changing innovations of the last 20 years.
The ground-breaking Rolley was quickly embraced by a number of top golf clubs and golfers – including Sir Richard Branson, who keeps one on his private Necker Island.
