As part of the School of Science and Technology Joint seminar programme for the Engineering and Materials and Computing and Informatics Research Centres Dr Cosmo Lupo, University of York presents: Physics seminar: Subwavelength imaging with coherent (quantum) detection.

Abstract

From general considerations we determine the ultimate resolution limit of any far-field, diffraction-limited, linear imaging device within the paraxial approximation. We employ a quantum optics formalism to find that semi-classical detection schemes are optimal and allows us to achieve sub-wavelength resolution.
