Fernwood Design Day Exhibition
Part of Light Night 2018
Members of the technical team from the School of Architecture, Design and the Built Environment at Nottingham Trent (NTU) recently attended the Fernwood Schools annual Design Day. At the day the students from Fernwood School created sculptural installations which will be displayed alongside a Product Design undergraduate exhibition, The Sense of Sight, at Light Night 2018.
- From: Friday 23 February 2018, 6 pm
- To: Friday 23 February 2018, 9 pm
- Location: Newton Building, Main Entrance, Nottingham Trent University, City Campus, Goldsmith Street, Nottingham, NG1 4BU
The students were introduced to a wide variety of materials and processes throughout the day and enjoyed getting creative and hands-on with alginate and plaster casting.
The aim of the Design Day was to give students a sense of what real life designing is all about whilst working with industry experts on live project briefs. The event offered students the chance to embrace Design and Technology (D&T). Working alongside professionals offered them an insight into how the subject can provide key skills in a range of career paths as well as contributing to their general education.
Technical staff from NTU included Kerry Truman, Julian Robinson and Lee Bollard. Staff were joined by NTU Maker Club student volunteers Sophie Gilpin, Final Year BA (Hons) Furniture and Product Design and Lukas Grundstrom, Year One BA (Hons) Product Design who offered their support as Design Day mentors.
