Introduction to Laser Cutting
This 3-hour workshop will be split up into two sessions and will give you a general overview of the fantastic designs you can create using laser cutters.
In the first half of the session, you will be guided through the process of how to turn your ideas into a file suitable for laser cutting.
The first session will cover:
- Design and the different programmes you can use such as Adobe Illustrator, CorelDraw, Solidworks and more
- How to prepare and save files so they are suitable for Laser Cutting
The second session is all about the Laser Cutter. Businesses will be:
- Be guided through the process of sending a file to be cut
- Learn about the different materials that can be cut and engraved
- See the machine in action
Lunch will be provided at 12.00 pm and the session start at 1.00 pm prompt and end at 4.00 pm with a 15 minute break in-between.

This event is free to attend, but attendees must register in advance. In order to attend this event you must be eligible for support from the Enabling Innovation Programme, which supports SMEs in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire.
Enabling Innovation is a three-year collaboration between Nottingham Trent University, the University of Nottingham, and the University of Derby to support SMEs in Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire to innovate. It is part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
3D Design Technology workshops
The Enabling Innovation team are pleased to extend an invitation to these free events which are open to small and medium sized businesses based in the Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire (D2N2) area.
These workshops will be delivered by Dana Church and Cara Roberts who each many years industry experience in design and manufacturing, integrating 2D and 3D Design disciplines with disruptive digital technologies into the production process.
