Event details

This multi-disciplinary workshop will develop existing collaborations, extend research networks and progress research to investigate the wellbeing of law students and legal professionals in the UK.

In the USA and Australia such research is further advanced than in the UK, and it has found very concerning states of low positive affect and high distress amongst lawyers and law students.

The focus of event will be student wellbeing, as in many studies when compared with other disciplines law students appear to have low self-reported wellbeing. Several possible causes of low law student (and lawyer) wellbeing have been identified: low intrinsic and high extrinsic motivation; difficulties with ethical identity; antagonistic culture and work environment.

Programme

This will be an interactive workshop.
