Is your digital business seeking investment? Nottingham Trent University and the Knowledge Transfer Network present the opportunity to pitch to venture capitalist and local angel investors.

Nottingham Trent University and the Knowledge Transfer Network present the opportunity to pitch to venture capitalists and local angel investors with an interest in digital businesses with growth aspirations.

The Elevator Investor Showcase event on the 7 November will be open to only 6 selected companies. To secure investment for their business, each participant will have 20 minutes to pitch to investors and answer questions.

Investors:

  • Sandy Reid | Investment Manager | Mercia Technologies.
    Mercia is a national investment group focused on the funding and scaling of innovative businesses with high growth potential from the UK regions. Initially this is through Mercia's managed funds and then selectively scaling businesses through its own balance sheet capital.
  • Ray Harris | Midlands Engine Investment Fund Principal | Foresight Group
    The Foresight Group is a leading independent infrastructure and private equity investment manager. Managing the later stage equity finance stream of the MEIF, they are interested in supporting established business with ambitious plans, or a large start up with high growth potential. They can provide equity funding of up to £2 million
  • Alexis Toft | Head | Minerva Business Angel Network
    The Minerva Business Angel Network has been established since 1994, providing a forum for private investors to invest in emerging technology businesses. Minerva helps companies attract equity funding from it’s own network of Business Angels and will make appropriate introductions to relevant Venture Capital Funds as well as access other forms of finance from suitable sources including Banks.
  • Hannah Williamson | Associate | Edge Investment
    Edge invests in dynamic businesses guided by exceptional management operating in the creative industries and enabling technologies. They tend to favour companies that are established with proven management teams, existing revenues of  £1m+ and the capacity to scale quickly.
  • Tong Gu | Investment Lead | Accelerated Digital Ventures (ADV)
    ADV invest in tech with the capacity to define a generation, backing the most innovative, highest potential, and globally disruptive technology businesses. They are the gateway to long-term, committed institutional capital. Their team is made up of operators and entrepreneurs who’ve built, scaled and exited businesses including AOL, ARM, EasyNet and PlusNet.
  • Victoria Copestake | Business Development Manager | Enterprise Loans
    Enterprise Loans provide finance to individuals, micro-businesses and SMES to support good business ideas that could be difficult to fund through other means. Loans of £3,000 to £150,000 can be used to turn ideas  into a new business or allow an existing business to realise it’s growth potential.
  • Paul Jenkinson | Investor & Introducer – Shadow Foundr Ltd
    Shadow Foundr’s FCA-regulated, online investment platform caters for all types of investors and allows companies the opportunity to access investment funds through both their own close networks and our established investor network. They are sector agnostic, with a focus on high growth, innovative and scalable early stage companies with the potential to disrupt their sector.

Selection Panel - 25 October

To be shortlisted for the Elevator Investor Showcase event, businesses will need to partake in a Selection Panel on the 25 October. Each business will have a half hour slot to make their 7-minute pitch and answer questions from the panel and will receive constructive feedback. Laptop and projector/screen for presentations will be provided.

Selection Panel Booking

Booking to pitch to the selection panel is essential and slots are allocated on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Reserve a place by emailing us at bighouse@ntu.ac.uk with preference for morning or afternoon. The Big House team will respond to confirm your pitching time and give further event details.

*NTU reserves the right to postpone or cancel the Investor Showcase (8 November) following the outcome of the selection panel.

We recommend that all businesses interested in pitching at the Elevator Investor Showcase should prepare and attend our investment readiness workshops presented by the Knowledge Transfer Network.
