Abstract

A novel “Squiral” (Square Spiral) Image Processing (SIP) framework is proposed for fast image processing, which enables a 2D image to be converted to a vector in Cartesian coordinates without distortion. A non-overlapping convolution technique for SIP-based convolution is developed via mimicking eye tremor in the human visual system. The SIP framework has been applied to video frame processing and generation of the new image feature via incorporation of SIP addressing scheme with SURF (SIPF). The SIPF features are further deployed in a hierarchical image retrieval system via fusion of text analysis to improve the efficiency of the emergency management.
